Micro Zoning Home Interior Design

Do you ever sit at home and wish you had a space to escape? Away from the kids, your partner or housemate? Well, this year designers are showcasing the idea of MICRO ZONING within your home interior. This design trend focuses on creating a zoned area within a current room that separates you from the rest of the space. This could be a corner, an alcove or a screened-off area that provides a sense of privacy and relaxation within the room.

Reading Nook

The reading nook has been a favoured microzone for quite a while in the interior design world. If you are a bit of a book worm like me then there is nothing more appealing than curling up with a novel and escaping into another world or time. Reading nooks are one of the easiest microzones to create. If you have a bay window in your living room or bedroom then why not create a padded window seat with plenty of layered cushions and a blanket for snuggling up with your favourite book. If you’re under stairs area is going to waste then create a day bed style space with in-built shelving where you can store and read your book collections. If your space is limited then create a reading zone with a single armchair, side table and lamp that will compliment your current interior while creating a sense of solitude within your room.

Spa Relaxation

If you love a good pamper after a long and busy day then why not create a spa-style zone in your bedroom or bathroom area. Screen off space within the room and add a massage style bed or a dressing table area. Here you can display a light-up makeup mirror and also include a selection of shelves, drawers and oak cupboards for your make-up, beauty products and treatments for your skin, hair and body. Also, include a docking station where you can play some calming and relaxing music or meditation recordings so you can lie back and take some deep breathes away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the home.

Art Area

Drawing and painting can be a relaxing way to showcase your talents and creativity. Set up a quiet space in your living room or bedroom with an easel or painted desk set up for your paper or canvas. Include a plain wall area where you can display your finished art and include some wires to hang any wet paintings. Display some shelves, drawers and cupboards for your brushes paints, pens and chalks. Include plenty of light rings and lamps in case you decide to paint into the later hours of the day and a situation next to a window or patio door would be great for finding colour and visual inspiration as well as allowing natural light.
