Traditional

For a traditional heritage style interior design, opt for a colour palette of rich cream, deep red or burgundy and team with hints of mustard and orange for a warm and earthy feel. Opt for cosy cream and beige walls and use your colours as accent tones across your soft furnishings and wallpaper. A main feature wall would look great with a striking cream, red and chocolate tartan patterned wallpaper that can be teamed with co-ordinating cushions, throws and bedding in bold plaid designs. This look works particularly well in country homes and provides a highland inspired design within your home. For a more sophisticated look then why not opt for some hounds tooth patterned curtains and cushions in a rich red, cream and mustard colour palette that will look wonderful teamed with a tan or chocolate brown leather sofa for a rich and inviting finish. Complete this look with a selection of chunky oak furniture that is rugged and golden and partner with an array of brass and copper accessories such as lighting, lanterns and picture frames that can be interspersed with natural oak accessories for a variation in visual style and texture.

Modern

If you prefer a more modern take on the heritage style of interior design then why not choose a colour palette of grey, white and soft blue that will create a crisp yet cosy feel within your chosen interior space. A simple check or striped patterned wallpaper will create a focal point on a main feature wall and can be teamed with a selection of curtains and cushions in a simple white and blue paid pattern. Fairisle patterns also look great in a modern heritage home and will create a Scandinavian twist to your interior design. This look can be made even cosier with some grey faux fur cushions and a co-ordinating faux fur rug that will look wonderful in the centre of the room. Grey painted furniture will perfectly compliment this heritage style look and will provide a cosy yet still rustic feel in your chosen room. Simple white crockery and ornaments will look fabulous displayed in a large welsh style dresser in a dining room or living room interior, adding a classic focal point within the room.
