Furniture Positioning

The way that you position the furniture in your home interior can make a massive impact on the overall appearance of your home. Not only does this positioning have to be functional and practical but it must also look appealing to the eye when casting your view over your room. Whether it’s seating arrangements, display units, TV cabinets or wardrobes each item of furniture in your home plays an essential role in the overall finish of your interior look. Here are our tips on the best ways to position some of the furniture in your home.

Seating

Seating is one of the main features of your living room interior and has to be arranged according to the shape of your room, any alcoves or recesses that you may have and also the position of your TV to allow you the best viewing experience. If you have a corner sofa or a selection of sofas such as three-seater and two-seater these can be arranged in a ‘L’ shaped formation that face towards your TV cabinet. If you have a TV that is positioned upon your wall you can arrange your seating in a square shape encircling the TV. Single arm chairs or chaise lounges can be positioned in an alcove or corner of the room as a space to relax away from the rest of the home or if you have a bay window you can place your seats here for optimum reading lighting.

Display Cabinets

If you have lots of ornaments and collectibles you may wish to display them in a dresser or display cabinet for optimum viewing ability. These types of furniture items should be placed where they can be easily admired but also in a secure space where they are not going to be disturbed. Alcove spaces are perfect for display cabinets as they allow the item to be tucked away while still remaining a focal point within the room. If you’ve opted for a large traditional dresser then place this on a spacious open wall that allows it to become the main feature of the space.

Beds

Beds are another central furniture item that can often cause a conundrum when figuring out where to position it within your bedroom interior. If you are lucky enough to have a large plain wall then your bed should be positioned in a central position with the headboard in the middle of the wall. This allows you to place bedside cabinets either side of the bed or you can use this position to place some built-in wardrobes around your bed frame. If you have a large enough alcove in your bedroom you can also place your bed frame into this space which will allow you a few extra inches of floor space within your room. If you have high positioned windows in your bedroom you could place your bed beneath this opening that will allow for a light and illuminating ambiance in your bedroom interior.
