Colour Trend – Strawberry

With Wimbledon fast approaching its time to dust off our rackets, pour a glass of squash and put our feet up with a yummy bowl of Strawberries and cream. With berry colour palettes being a popular choice this spring/ summer season then why not celebrate with a fresh and juicy STRAWBERRY interior colour palette. This bright and summery tone will give a warm and uplifting feel to even the most neutral of home interiors and sits comfortably in traditional and contemporary homes.

Colour Palette

The beauty of this bright yet sophisticated colour tone is that it can be partnered with a vast range of co-ordinating and clashing colours to create a multitude of designs and styles. If you love nothing more than the summery ambiance of a British garden party then select a rich strawberry hue and partner it with an array of botanical colours such as green, peach, yellow and lilac. For a slightly more tropical look then select vibrant contrasting colours such as strawberry, lime, turquoise and orange and team with metallic gold and silver for a Moroccan look and feel. For a more contemporary ‘strawberries and cream’ interior then select strawberry hues that work well alongside white, dove grey and pewter or simple monochrome tones.

Cushions

A bold coloured cushion can change the entire appearance of your interior particularly when partnered with contrasting colours and patterns. For a classic and sophisticated look then select red, black and white cushions in plain, rococo or geometric designs and display on a simple black or white sofa or bed set for a splash of glamorous colour. For a more vintage inspired look then select shabby chic style strawberry polka dot or heart print cushions and partner them with rose print floral cushions in delicate pastel tones. If you are feeling the summertime vibe then opt for bold Caribbean designs in bold juicy tones and flamboyant hibiscus, flamingo and cocktail print designs for a burst of tropical fun.

Upholstery

If you are not feeling bold enough to add such a vibrant colour to your walls then why not introduce it into your upholstery to create an accent colour that can be co-ordinated with your smaller household accessories. A simple way to create a focal point using colour is with a set of strawberry coloured curtains that will provide a simple alternative to a traditional painted feature wall. Choose a simple plain linen material or a bold floral print fabric that will add detail and a summer garden feel to a living room or conservatory space. For a striking and opulent look then choose a luxurious chaise lounge or carved occasional chair and select a rich satin or velvet strawberry fabric that will give an air of opulence in a living room, bedroom or dining room. Partner with a black frame for a contemporary look or a glistening silver leaf exterior for a more period style design.

Accessories

Brightly coloured accessories are still as popular as ever as they are a simple and cost effective way to change the colour scheme of your home without the need for complete redecoration. Strawberry coloured vases, bowls and ornaments will look great along a white, black or oak mantelpiece, sideboard or console table and create a sprinkling of colour that breaks up a neutral painted backdrop. For a classic British summer dining table then select a strawberry coloured, polka dot vase or jug and fill with gorgeous wild flowers and daisies. Add a selection of matching polka dot plates, cups and teapots and team with a strawberry print table cloth for a fun and feminine shabby chic design.

Furniture

Strawberry is a versatile colour tone that will work wonderfully alongside a wide range of furniture styles and materials. For a fresh and uplifting finish then select elegantly carved white painted furniture items that will contrast against the vivid red tones of your decor and prevent your room from looking overcrowded or overpowered. If you would prefer a more masculine finish then select grey or black painted furniture that can be used to create a focal point against a statement feature wall or alcove area. If you are feeling particularly flamboyant then why not go for all out glitter and glamour with a selection of silver leaf or mirrored furniture that works particularly well in bedroom and dressing room areas.
