Colour Trend – Byzantine Blue

The Byzantine Empire or Eastern Roman Empire held its capital in Constantinople (Istanbul). It survived the fall of the Western Roman Empire and continued to thrive until it fell to the Ottoman Turks in 1453. The decor and antiquities during this time included bright and fresh BYZANTINE BLUE ceramics, mosaics and fabrics that still provide a perfect colour palette for modern day homes.

Colour Palette

If you wish to create a calm and relaxed ambiance in your chosen room then partner Byzantine blue with soft grey and charcoal for a modern design with a hint of masculinity. For a more soft and feminine feel team Byzantine blue with dusky pink, peach and lemon for a fresh garden inspired interior design.

Cushions

For a classic Byzantine inspired interior design opt for a selection of blue and white cushions in traditional Mediterranean prints and patterns that will create a focal point on a plain white sofa or bed set. A crisp coastal feel can be achieved with a selection of byzantine blue and white striped cushions that can be teamed with nautical or beach themed prints for a chic and relaxed interior design. Bold and modern interiors can be complimented with some blue and monochrome cushions in striking geometric prints or chevrons that will look great in a minimal contemporary space.

Upholstery

A classic, white painted French carved armchair will look fabulous upholstered with some Byzantine blue coloured satin or cotton to give a relaxed chateau style finish in your room. For a more country inspired design, why not select some Byzantine blue and pastel coloured floral fabric and use to update a set of dining chairs, a dressing table stool or headboard to create a focal point within your room.

Accessories
For a classically elegant interior design then accentuate a Byzantine blue backdrop with some crisp white accessories or traditional Byzantine patterned plates, vases and ornaments that will create a classic Mediterranean feel in your chosen room. If you prefer a more relaxed, coastal feel in your home then why not opt for natural wooden accessories, storm lanterns and woven baskets that will create texture and visual detail in any room of the home.

Furniture

For a more masculine look and finish then why not select some black painted or high gloss furniture that will create visual contrast against the light and colourful walls.
