Function and Beauty

While it is always nice to have a home that looks stylish and reflects the personalities of its occupants there is also a need to create rooms and spaces that provide the perfect balance of FUNCTION AND BEAUTY. Some rooms of the home are essential spaces where we need to have a blend of visual style, practical design and accessories to make everyday life that little bit easier. These spaces should provide you with all you need for a specific function without negotiating or distracting from your chosen style and finish.

Kitchens

Kitchens are an area of the home where we spend a surprising amount of time, from cooking meals to making a cup of tea; kitchens are one of the most functional rooms of the home that require numerous gadgets, utensils and appliances to get you through every day. Items such as fridges, dishwashers and washing machines are a must have for any home however they can make our kitchens look a little mechanical and boring. You can prevent this by integrating these items into cupboard spaces or select stand out items such as brightly coloured designs, sleek black or silver that will add style and visual impact in your space. Select accessories such as coffee machines, kettles and toasters that co-ordinate with your decor and blend seamlessly into your kitchen design.

Bedrooms

Bedrooms are an area of the home where several of our daily events take place. From getting dressed and applying our make up to drying our hair and catching some sleep; the bedroom is a hub of activity. No one wants a bedroom that is full of mess and clutter; instead you want an organised and laid back space that is relaxed and stylish. If you have enough space then a walk in wardrobe is the perfect choice for those with extensive clothing collections. Make sure you have specified areas for clothes, shoes and accessories and include a floor length mirror for those all important outfit selections. Place in dressing table in a central position within the room with a co-ordinating stool or dressing table chair for added comfort and functionality. Try to find a design with plenty of drawers and storage space for all of your make- up, beauty products and accessories.

Home Office

If you work from home or are a student then you are likely to spend a great deal of time in your home office or study. While these rooms have to be functional and full of essential items and accessories for your working day, there is no need to negotiate on the visual style or the ambiance of your space. Selecting the right desk space is an essential element of this room. A spacious desk with areas for your files and folders, stationary and computer are key in creating a space that is organised and tidy while a leather or fabric ergonomic office chair will ensure that your posture is supported throughout the day while still looking sleek and sophisticated. Select furniture items such as filing cabinets, side tables and chests of drawers that will provide plentiful storage while creating a cosy and welcoming space in which to sit.
