Festival Fun

Festival season is finally here along with the sunshine and quite often rainy British days. These occasions are times to get together and celebrate with bright and cheerful coloured clothes and accessories that embody the spirit of the occasion. This cool FESTIVAL FUN is translating into interior designs this summer with a plethora of colourful and bold patterns and prints that will create a cheerful and uplifting ambiance in any room of the home.

Opt for bold and bright colour schemes that incorporate sunshiny, summery colours like orange lime and yellow. These can be paired with more natural hues like grass greens, rich brown and beige that create a balance against the brighter colours and represents the outdoor fun that is had during the festival season. Wallpaper is a great way to achieve a fab festival look in your home interior.  Select some bold and funky retro patterns for an eye-catching focal point within your room. These can be in simple monochrome or bright and vivid colours such as primary shades and neons to create the ultimate statement within your home. Alternatively why not opt for a large tapestry style wall hanging in vintage or tribal patterns that will look great hung on a plain painted wall.

Mix and match the patterns and prints of your soft furnishings around the room to create a varied visual style across all surface areas. For example if you opt for tribal prints and patterns, alternate a bold coloured tribal curtain set with monochrome cushions and throws for a mix and match of styles and colours. Opt for tasselled or beaded rugs, beaded window curtains and macrame throws that will create visual style and texture within your chosen room. You could also include some stylish floor cushions and pouffes in a living room or bedroom area and use them to create a relaxed space to chill out and let the stresses of everyday life pass you by.

Vintage furniture will look great in a festival inspired interior design and can be mixed and matched with modern high gloss or painted furniture items for a unique visual style within your chosen room. Add lots of natural accessories such as wooden candle holders or woven baskets and vases that will look great against a bold and bright coloured backdrop. Paper lanterns will look great as ceiling pendants or free standing lamps and can be hand painted in your own prints and patterns to create a personalised interior look. If you’re a fan of music festivals then why not add some music inspired accessories such as vinyl records on your walls, band inspired coasters or placemats or why not go all out and include a festival style mural that can be placed on a main feature wall and take you back to your favourite festival whenever and wherever you like.
