Colour Trend – Kale

KALE has been announced as one of Pantone’s colours of the year 2017 and it is easy to see why this rich and botanical green hue is set to become a favoured choice in both modern and classic homes. The soft yet vivid undertones work great as a striking feature colour on you walls and soft furnishings as well as an accent tone for a subtle pop of colour.

Colour Palettes
For a simple and classic look then partner kale with soft white, fern green and forest green to create a natural yet colourful interior that can also be paired with  light beige or mocha tones for a hint of retro elegance.  If you prefer a more soft and feminine design then partner kale with crisp white, lavender, raspberry, blueberry and lime tones that will create a fresh, garden inspired look that works particularly well in living room and bedroom interiors. For a masculine interior design team kale with deep black or pewter monochrome colours that will create a visual statement in any room of the home.

Cushions
Floral and leaf designs work wonderfully in a kale colour tone, opt for classic florals such as roses and daisies in soft pastels for a classic look and finish or opt for bold palm and banana leaf designs for a modern tropical feel. For a simpler more minimal look then opt for striped kale and white cushions that will look great along a light upholstered sofa or crisp white bed set for a bright and illuminating finish. Bold geometric patterns will work great in a kale, white and black colour combination and can be teamed with plain black and deep grey cushions for a sleek designer look.

Upholstery
Coloured upholstery is a great way of creating a visual focal point in your chosen room without the need for any extensive redecoration. For a refined and classic appearance then opt for a classic chesterfield style sofa or armchair upholstered in a soft kale velvet fabric that perfect marries stately refinement with opulent glamour. A kale coloured velvet fabric would also look wonderful with some black painted, French style dining chairs to create a rich and luxurious focal point in your dining room interior.

Accessories
Kale coloured vintage glassware will look fabulous in a retro home interior and can be displayed along a vintage sideboard or dresser to create a focal point in your chosen room. Crisp white ceramic vases and ornaments will provide a complimentary contrast against the rich green walls and will create a sense of illumination in smaller rooms of the home. For a rich and stately feel then select matt or satin black photo frames, mirrors and table lamps that will evoke an air of sophisticated opulence in your home.

Furniture
Classic oak furniture will compliment the natural, botanical tones of a kale colour scheme and will create a warm and homely feel within your interior space. Opt for traditional designs for a rustic feel or sleeker and lighter oaks for a more contemporary interior design. White or cream painted furniture is hot on trend in 2017 and is sure to create a cosy yet spacious feel in your chosen room. For a more bold statement then opt for deep black painted furniture items such as a dining table, dresser or bed frame that will create a focal point within the home.
