Colour Trend – Brass

Metallic colour schemes are set to be one of the hottest trends for the autumn/winter season with many high end and high street designers incorporating the look into their accessories, furniture and soft furnishings. BRASS is set to replace copper as the favoured metal over the coming months and its traditional finish will look fabulous in both modern and classic interior spaces.

For a cosy and rustic feel in you chosen room then why not team brass with rich cream, beige and biscuit colour palettes to create a relaxed and welcoming ambiance within the home. If you prefer a more sleek and sophisticated look then you can place brass alongside monochrome or grey colour palettes to create a perfect blend of classic and contemporary interior design. Brass also works great as an accent colour alongside retro hues such as chocolate, orange and mustard or can be used to create an eastern feel alongside jewelled purple, blue and pink. If you love statement wallpaper then a cream and brass coloured rococo or baroque design will create a stately feel within the room or why not opt for crisp white, black and brass striped or chevron print designs for a more striking and modern feel.

Metallic fabrics are a great way of adding texture and glamour to even the most neutral of home interiors. A set of velvet or satin curtains in a shimmering brass finish will look great draped in heavy swathes from a co-ordinating brass curtains pole with brass or gold tie backs for a complimentary finish.  These opulent curtains will look amazing teamed with gold, cream and brass coloured velvet cushions for a rich and flamboyant period style home. For a more rustic look then opt for cream or beige linen curtains that can be hung from a brushed brass curtain pole and accentuated with brass rivets and eyelets for a simple yet effective look.  Opt for a selection of floral print cushions in neutral beige and chocolate colour schemes with hints of gold, copper and brass embroidering for a truly traditional finish.

Chunky oak furniture with antique style brass, half cup handles will look great in a cosy country style home interior. Opt for statement items such as a coffee table, dining table or dresser for added cosiness and rusticity. Cream painted furniture with brass handles will also provide the same classic ambiance while creating a sense of space and light that is perfect for smaller home interiors. For a country style interior design then accessorise the room with a mix of cream and brass milk jugs that can be filled with twigs, fairy lights or wildflowers to create a focal point on a table or windowsill area. Brass photo frames, lamp bases, ceiling lights and door handles will create the finishing touch to the room and will compliment both modern and traditional interior looks.
