Iberian Interiors

As the summer months approach it is traditional for us as weather hungry Brits to crave the sunshine and warmth that comes from a trip overseas. An IBERIAN INTERIOR design will create a warm and welcoming feel within any room of the home and combines Spanish and Portuguese influences with rich and bright colour schemes to create a space that is full of life and character. This look doesn’t have to be reserved for the summer months it can be carried through the entire year for a warm and cosy feel in any room of the home.

For a rich and earthen interior design then opt for classic Iberian colour palettes featuring earthen hues such as rich cream, beige, honey and terracotta that will create a naturally warming ambiance within your home. If you prefer a hint of bolder and brighter colours then choose bright reds, yellow and purple hues or add bright and vivid tribal inspired colours for a hint of North African influence.

Due to its position between Europe and North Africa Iberia takes influence from several cultures and regions. If you love a neutral and calming home interior then you can opt for some natural linen curtains and upholstery in soft beige, cream or caramel hues and team with Mediterranean patterned cushions and throws for a cosy and inviting bedroom or living room interior. To take inspiration from the North African influences then opt for cushions, bedding and rugs that feature bold and bright tribal patterns and prints with tassels and trims that give a slight bohemian edge to this interior look.

Classic oak or walnut furniture will compliment this interior look and add to the warmth of both natural and bold interior colour schemes. Smoked oak or white painted items also look great in an Iberian interior design and will add a more light and spacious feel to your chosen room. If you love traditional Iberian furniture design then opt for statement items such as a coffee table, dining table or wardrobe featuring carved filigree style door and drawer fronts and table tops that are sure to create a focal point within the room. A more casual look can be achieved with some woven rattan style furniture that will look particularly striking in a conservatory or garden view living room.

Traditional Iberian accessories will complete your interior look. Large storm lanterns will create areas of light on a sideboard or table area while large rattan planters can be displayed in the corner of the room and filled with palms, banana plants or yucca trees for added greenery against the natural coloured backdrop. Carved wooden vases, photo frames and candle holders will look great scattered around the room and a woven or wooden framed mirror can take centre stage above a fireplace, bed or seating area and further accentuated with some African style masks or a Spanish style tapestries.
