Colour Trend – Basalt

This season is all about using cool yet warm natural colour schemes to create style and cosiness in your chosen interior space. BASALT is a gorgeous grey colour tone that works incredibly well in both modern and traditional home interiors and can be teamed with neutral and bold colour schemes to create a visual sophisticated in your chosen room.

Basalt grey can be teamed with a variety of colour hues that lie along the same colour palette such as dove grey, charcoal and pewter to create a tonal effect across the room that is chic and stylish in its finish. For a more soft and feminine feel then partner basalt with crisp white and soft dusky and pastel tones that will add a fresh and illuminating feel to your chosen room. A masculine palette can be achieved by adding basalt to a monochrome interior colour palette to add a variation in tone that is strong yet cosy. A bold monochrome, basalt and silver wallpaper will add a stylish touch to any living room, bedroom or dining room and can be displayed in a classic rococo pattern or a more modern chevron or geometric pattern for a stylish visual finish.

Grey is one of the hottest colours for soft furnishings this season due to its versatility and elegance.  Soft basalt coloured curtains will look great against a co-ordinating backdrop and will look great in simple cotton for a refined country style or more opulent velvet and satin for a hint of glamour and luxury. Basalt coloured cushions look great on upholstered or leather sofas and crisp white bed spreads and can be used to add a zoned area of colour and pattern to the room. Baroque and rococo style pattern will create a classic twist to the home while a more feminine look can be achieved with basalt and pastel floral prints that will create an illuminating botanical feel in the room. A large basalt grey shag pile rug will look great in the centre of the room or nestled next to a bed and can be further accentuated with hints of metallic silver for added opulence.

Grey painted furniture makes the perfect partner to a basalt coloured home interior and will create a tonal room that is cosy yet cool in its ambiance. Opt for items with exposed oak accents for a more classic country style finish. White painted furniture will also look great alongside this colour scheme and can be displayed in a cottage style finish for a warm and cosy look or a more sophisticated French carved design for a period style elegance and luxury. A more modern and minimal look can be achieved with some white or black high gloss furniture that will create a sleek and streamlined look in any room of the home. Complete your room with an array of crisp white, black or chrome and silver accessories and lighting that will create the finishing touch you need to make a refined and stylish interior space.
