Colour Trend – Aubergine

Purple is a wonderfully versatile colour that will transfer throughout the seasons to give your home a warm and bright ambiance that is fresh yet cosy. This season has seen a huge rise in AUBERGINE interior colour schemes and with their rich and sumptuous tones they are sure to create a stylish and sophisticated look that works wonderfully in both modern and classic home interiors.

Colour Palettes

Aubergine colour tones work brilliantly with this spring’s most coveted colour palettes to create an illuminating interior that brings cheerful meadow tones from the outside…inside. Gorgeous zesty lime and grass greens look fabulous alongside aubergine and crisp white to create a fresh appearance that looks particularly striking in living rooms, conservatories and bedrooms. For a more sleek and contemporary look then partner Aubergine with lilac, wasabi, pewter grey and black for a clean and refined look with a hint of boutique style glamour. If your are feeling particularly flamboyant then create a selection of sparkling jewelled tones with aubergine, turquoise, magenta and orange to give a rich and opulent eastern style interior look.

Cushions

If you are not quite ready to transform your entire interior then cushions provide the perfect way to try out new colours and patterns in a simple and cost effective manner. Try your hand at creating this season’s popular ‘ombre’ trend by selecting plain cushions in varying degrees of purple and arrange them from the darkest aubergine to the palest lilac along a sofa, bed or window seat. Alternatively select contemporary geometric prints in crisp white and aubergine colour schemes or bold floral designs in more classic aubergine and pink tones for a fresh and feminine look. For a Moroccan inspired seating area then choose vivid, clashing colours such as aubergine, yellow, green and blue and select rich satin and velvet fabrics with sequin, bead and tassel finishes.

Upholstery

Bold coloured upholstery is a much have feature in any 2015 interior design. Aubergine fabrics are a great colour choice as they provide a zoned area of visually eye-catching colour without being too overpowering. Satin and velvet fabrics work particularly well in this colour tone and can be used to create a glamorous and dramatic chaise lounge or French style occasional chair that will look fabulous in the corner of a living room or bedroom area. Partner the purple upholstery with glossy black or illuminating silver leaf frame work for added opulence and refinement. You can also update a classic oak dining set by reupholstering your seat pads with some rich aubergine linen fabric that will give a fresh and modern twist to a traditional furniture design.

Accessories

Aubergine accessories are a versatile purchase for any home interior as they can be partnered with a vast range of dark and neutral interior colour palettes. Deep purple vases, bowls and ornaments will look fabulous against a crisp white feature wall but also look fabulous along a deep black or pewter painted mantelpiece for added drama and opulence. A rich aubergine dinner setting will perfectly compliment both warm oak and crisp glass dining tables to give a modern and uplifting splash of colour. These can be further complimented with a matching table cloth, placemats and floral arrangement for added visual style. If you have concentrated your aubergine colour to your walls and fabric then select fresh white accessories that will create a sense of space and light within the home or choose spring inspired colours such as lemon, lime and azure for a bold array or colour and tone.

Furniture

As with most other purple interior colour tones; aubergine will look great alongside a broad selection of furniture styles and finishes. Rich black painted furniture will look particularly striking in a boutique bedroom interior as it will create a sense of drama and luxury that is a perfect mix of traditional palatial style and contemporary elegance. For a more illuminating finish then select items with a shimmering silver leaf finish that will create a feminine look that will create a visual focal point against a deep aubergine feature wall. For a more classic and fresh appearance then select soft grey, or white painted furniture items that will work particularly well in creating a sense of space in more compact home interiors. If you prefer a traditional look then a collection of co-ordinating oak items will give a cosy finish to your chosen interior space.
