Butterfly Home Decor

BUTTERFLIES are one of my favourite creatures; they are delicate and beautiful and come in some fascinating colours and patterns. This season butterflies are set to take the interior world by storm with a wide range of high street stores including these animals across much of their homeware and furniture.  Their spring like elegance evokes a bright and uplifting energy that will transform even the plainest of interior spaces.
Soft furnishings are a great way of including butterfly print into your home interior. For a soft and feminine look then opt for neutral cream or white fabrics that feature some pastel coloured butterflies and flowers that will create a summer meadow feel in your interior space. For a more modern and striking look then opt for deep grey, black or navy with bold and bright butterflies that will create a statement within the room. If you like a splash of glamour then opt for some metallic or embellished cushions featuring sequined butterflies or metallic embroidery that will look particularly striking against a butterfly print bed set.

Bold patterned wallpaper is set to be another of 2017’s hottest trends and butterfly prints are a great way to combine both looks within the home. Choose classic English garden style wallpapers featuring butterflies, bees and flowers to create a refined and traditional feel on a main feature wall. For a more subtle yet visually striking design then choose a metallic wallpaper with a simple repeating pattern that will look great teamed with neutral or pale pastel painted walls. If you prefer a more bold and modern look then select monochrome wallpaper with bright neon or primary coloured butterflies that will look great in minimal or contemporary homes.
Lighting is another great way to introduce some butterflies into your home interior. For a classic country cottage look then select simple table lamps featuring linen style shades that feature printed or embroidered butterflies and wildflowers and team with a plain cream, white or wooden lamp base. If you wish to create a more artistic feature in the room then opt for a modern take on a traditional chandelier with white or black Perspex butterflies that hang in varying lengths to create the illusion of them fluttering around the centre of the room. Alternatively select single pendulum shades in a 3D butterfly shape and hang in group formations above a sofa, table or bed.
There are a multitude of butterfly accessories that you can use to add the finishing touches to your interior space. Elegant photo frames and mirrors with butterfly shaped surrounds are sure to create a focal point against a plain painted wall. Filigree style storm lanterns and candle holders in open butterfly shapes will create visual detail in the room and will cast ambient shapes and shadows around your home when lit. For an elegant and feminine focal point in the room then take a select of 3D butterfly shaped wall decals that will create movement along a feature wall and provide a swathe of butterflies that can be used to accentuate a particular space within the room.
