5 Best Christmas Wrapping Ideas

Once you have finally completed your Christmas shopping it’s time to start thinking about how to wrap your selected gifts. As well all know some items are easier to wrap than others (mountain bike anyone?) but it is important to create a parcel that looks cheery and festive and either reflects your personality or the personality of the recipient. With this in mind I have selected some fun and elegant gift wrapping ideas that are perfect for creating the ‘wow’ factor’ with your presents this Christmas.

  1. North Pole Delivery

If you have children on your gift giving list this year it is important to maintain the magic of Christmas and make it a special day that they will never forget. A great way to keep your little believers in awe of Santa is to wrap their gifts to look like they have come directly from Santa’s workshop. Cover their gift in brown parcel paper and label with stamps, air mail or special delivery stickers. Address the parcel to the child and add some twine for a traditional look and appearance. For added detail place them in a sack and sprinkle in a little hay to remind them that the reindeer helped to deliver them.

  1. Chalkboard Paper

If you are feeling artistic this Christmas then try your hand at a chalkboard effect wrapping paper that allows you to create a personal pattern or message for your friends and family. Select a matt black wrapping paper to cover your entire package and then take a white paint marker and start doodling. You can simply label the parcel with a ‘To’ and ‘From’ notation or get creative with patterns, prints and drawings. For a modern look then draw stripes, dots or chevrons or for a more classic appearance then add drawings of bows, snowflakes, trees and stars for an elegant monochrome design.

  1. Crackers

When we think of Christmas crackers we all think of a Christmas dinner with bad jokes and paper hats, however crackers actually make wonderful wrapping for small Christmas gifts. If you are particularly crafty you can

cut your own cracker templates from card or buy some ‘make your own’ cracker sets that will give you everything you need to make them at home. Items such as jewellery, chocolates, Lego and small clothing items like gloves, socks and hats can be placed inside the cracker (you can still add the joke and hat if you like) and then decorate the ends with tied ribbons and add a name tag or label for added detail. Opt for classic Christmas designs or modern patterns depending on your tastes and requirements.

  1. Contemporary Wrapping

The beauty of modern wrapping is that it does not require you to spend lots of money on Christmas print paper. Instead you can purchase a large roll of spotted, striped or plain coloured paper that can be used all year round for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. Opt for sleek monochrome and grey designs or select jewelled tones such as pink, turquoise and purple that can be accented with metallic silver for a bit of Christmas glamour. Avoid traditional stick on bows and instead opt for a chic ribbon in a co-ordinating or contrasting colour and pattern and include a matching tag in a simple square or circle design.

  1. Traditional Wrapping

There is something quite lovely about the classic charm that comes with traditionally wrapped presents. The recognisable festive tones of red and gold create a warm and cosy look that looks great nestled beneath a decorated tree. Opt for wrapping papers that feature classic robin, deer, snowflake and holly designs and tie with a large organza bow. Add finishes touched such as a sprig of holly, mistletoe or cinnamon and add a red gift tag in a plain or tree shaped design. If you’re present is awkwardly shaped then place inside a box for ease of decorating and a crisp finish that looks professional and elegant.
