What to look out for from mirrored furniture
Mirror furniture has become increasingly fashionable over the years and the style is set to stay, with more and more ways of manufacturing, designs are changing and more variety is now available in the marketplace. There are mainly 2 styles; plain mirrored and etched Venetian mirrored. Plain mirrored is the most popular range due to its simplistic and modern design it looks great in any setting. Etched Venetian mirrored is when floral patterns are scribed into the glass, based on antique methods and designs this is the traditional style of Venetian mirror furniture.
Look closely at our mirrored range and you will see the high standard of quality that we all expect ,much of our mirrored collection may look from a distance the same as many other retailers but if you inspect closely at the detailing you will see ours is made to a highest standard than most of your high street stores. These high street retailers purchase their mirror furniture from factories based entirely on price without so much consideration of quality and durability. What you generally see on the high street is usually a poor quality version of the real McCoy. The Furniture Market™ has been selling This range for the last 6 years and have become specialists in the industry, we have used many different manufacturers in the past and have learnt many lessons. We now have dedicated factories manufacturing our collection to our own high specifications. We know this range better than anyone and are happy to help answer any questions, if you need advice and measurements then we are here to help.
All our collection is constructed using thick wood for the frames and panels which are black painted, they are made to look good and most importantly be strong and sturdy. This is very important as once the mirrored glass panels are fixed to the frames the furniture becomes much heavier. If the frames are not made correctly using strong materials then the furniture will be flimsy and unsteady. We know of a competitor that uses cheap flimsy wood for the frames with a view of cutting costs, but we all know this means cutting corners and that the furniture will not last long. It is easy to spot a poorly made piece just by moving them around and by opening and closing the drawers you will soon get a feel for the quality.
Mirrored Glass Panels
The most important part of your piece is the mirrored glass panels, after all this is what you are looking at. All our collection is manufactured using extra thick crystal clear glass for the panels, this gives it extra strength and helps protect it against cracks for when you knock or drop things on your furniture. All our mirrored panels have sharp bevelled edges, this is the key to a great looking piece of furniture. Be aware of retailers offering similar looking items with thin glass panels, remember the thinner the glass panel the easier it cracks. Also some cheap mirror furniture has a greenish tint in the glass panels, beware of pieces with this discolouration in the glass as it represents poor quality glass selection and gives the furniture a dull look.
The Furniture Market™ understands the importance of ease of use, by this we mean that the easier things are the more we use them and the longer it will last. Take our mirrored chest of draws, and the drawer runners for example, we only use easy glide drawer runners that have rollers so that you can easily open and close your drawers. This is very important as it minimises the friction between the drawer and the frame thus reducing wear and tear and increasing the ease of use. No more stiff and heavy drawers that become a problem when the drawer is full of clothes etc. The drawers themselves are made from strong thick wood that are black painted to give it a sleek modern look, the last thing that you want is the bottom of the drawer falling out that is why we use thick wood for the bottoms of the the drawers, this way they will carry lots of weight.
This might not seem an important point to you but to us this is very important, after all one of the most important things is that you receive your purchase in perfect condition with no damage. This is why The Furniture Market ™ ensures that all its pieces in this range is supplied with 3 protective layers, firstly bubble wrap, secondly thick moulded polystyrene and then thirdly a thick cardboard box. This way during transit by our own specialist delivery team we can ensure no breakages occur. We all know what these nationwide courier companies are like (mentioning no names), this is why we deliver all our own furniture ourselves as we understand the importance that this kind of furniture is handled carefully and in the correct manner. We also don't just drop the furniture at your door step and run like most, we carry it into your home and unpack it in front of you so that you can see that its in perfect condition.
The Furniture Market™ operates a very strict quality standard, all our pieces is checked at least 3 times before you receive it, its checked at the factory prior to dispatch, we then quality check it prior to loading our vans to ensure that it is in perfect condition and finally we will check it in front of you upon delivery to make sure that you are completely happy with the furniture quality. In the unlikely event that you are not then we will happily take the furniture back and replace immediately or give you a refund. We know of many other retailers that just deliver their furniture straight from the factory and without first checking it over, this is the cheapest way for retailers to operate however it is not in the interest of the customer. We know you don't want the hassle of sending things back and waiting in again for replacements, this costs everybody time and us money. We strive to get it right the first time, this way you are happy with your furniture and will come back for more.
The Furniture Market™ offers a two man delivery service to a room of your choice free of charge. We also offer a premium £30 delivery charges which includes any assembly of an item if needed and removal of packaging once your item is installed to your requirements. This a full white glove service which we are sure will leave you well satisfied.
Most of our furniture is delivered fully assembled, however there are only a few things that require minor assembly, such as some of the mirrored dressing tables and mirrored bedsides that just require the legs bolting on. If this is the case the product listing will state that the items requires minor assembly. Don't worry though, you don't need to be a trained mechanic to bolt legs on, its very easy and all instructions and parts are included. Its always good practice to assemble furniture on a carpeted floor as its soft and protects the glass when its tipped upside down. Do not try to assemble a piece on wood or stone flooring as if you accidentally drop it you could crack it. Some items such as Mirrored wardrobes do require more assembly and we advise a two man delivery and assembly service for products like this as our delivery men are trained and make these jobs easy. If you are totally against assembling furniture then you can select our 2 man delivery and assembly service at checkout and then you won't have to touch anything, they would delivery, unpack and assemble your furniture in the room of your choice and then take away the packaging.
This is the most important piece of assembly information you need to read, one of the most common faults caused is cracked drawer fronts due to handles being screwed on too tightly. Many items are supplied with the handles on the inside of the drawers, this is to protect them from being knocked in transit. If this is the case then please try to resist using a screw driver to tighten the handles up as this can cause the handle and bolt to squash the glass causing it to crack. This is immediately evident if a crack appears from the handle hole in the front of the drawer face. The best advice is to tighten them up finger tight and use the clear rubber washer between the metal coupling on the handle and the glass drawer front. This cushions the handles nicely against the drawer front and prevents the glass from cracking.
As with all high gloss surfaces dust soon becomes evident, we can't get rid of household dust but we can easily clean our furniture. Its easy, you can use normal household products such as glass cleaner, dusters etc, it doesn't take much effort to get your furniture shining again.
If you have to assemble your mirrored furniture then ensure that you do this on a soft floor surface (i.e rug or carpet with an old blanket down for protection against any marks on your floor. This will also protect the glass panels from scratching and also any hard surfaces from knocking against the glass causing it to crack. DO NOT assemble your furniture on light coloured carpet as the mirrored furniture may mark it due to the frames being painted black and there sometimes may be a powdery residue left on the frames. If you are going to place your mirrored furniture on a light coloured carpet then always check and wipe the legs to clean them if necessary prior to it coming into contact with any surfaces. NEVER drag the furniture across your floor.
