You may or may not have noticed Industrial inspired Furniture popping up in places such as high street shops, TV programs like Dragons Den or in contemporary dining eateries. You would be forgiven for thinking; this type of furniture will never fit into any home setting due to its rustic outdoorsy feel and imposing nature,
however given a chance this new revolution of furniture can be used in a multitude of ways to be as bold or subtle as you like creating something just that little bit different. The real charm of this style furniture is the rawness it exudes, this comes from the use of old cart wheels, large nuts and bolts,
recycled metal and old school cranks that really make you feel like you’re smack bang in the middle of a Victorian Ironmongers during the 19th century.
Here at the furniture market we are very excited about this new unique style of furniture and want you to feel the same, so here are a few ideas on how Industrial furniture can slot into your style of living.
In the bedroom:
You may be thinking this is the last place you want to feel like your outside sitting in the middle of a shipping dock, on the other hand for the bachelor bedroom it doesn’t get any better than the Container End Table featuring all the hallmarks of a shipping container with its numerical markings and metal bar handles. For the subtle approach just have one or two of these either side of the bed to give you that edge. If wanting to go the whole hog, incorporate wooden floors with either graffiti or brickwork wallpaper to give your container bedsides the perfect setting, add to this our container style desk or dressing table and industrial style lamps and you can be sure that you’ll be at the height of contemporary living as well as just plain cool!
In the Living Room:
With our Industrial furniture collection you have the option of spicing up your living room with just one or two pieces or going all out and re-creating the Albert Docks right at home. The Industrial style Widescreen TV Unit is the perfect way to subtly introduce a little roughness to your living room; it works well with a multitude of decors due to its simplistic design and natural finish. Team this with the Industrial Console Table and you instantly add a touch of interest to a room. For those of you that don’t want to hold back and want to fully embrace this new generation of furniture; again wooden floors are a must, if you’re lucky enough to already have the exposed brickwork then great otherwise there are so many ways in which you can recreate this with the use of wallpaper or wall stickers. A worn leather couch is the perfect addition along with a window effect wall mirror to really give you that warehouse look and feel. To recreate this look essential pieces include the Industrial Cart Coffee Table, Industrial Bookcase and Container Style Sideboard, finish it off with the Industrial Nest of 3 Tables and there you have it, a living room that would have Theo Paphitis demanding a set change.
In the Dining Room:
Our Trestle Dining Table draws its inspiration from the traditional workman’s bench, team this with the Trestle Bench and you have ample seating for all the family. If wanting to run with this theme throughout your dining room use the Industrial Dresser with 6 Drawer Base to store away all your best china and so the kids don’t feel left out; the Industrial Square Stools are a fun and funky place to park them with the handy ability to morph into a very spacious coffee table when needed.
So there you have it! Hopefully we have eased you in gently to this cool and contemporary furniture and now you are feeling the overwhelming urge to have it in your life.
